During the off-season, Nisha and I (aka The M & N Show) walked into a realm few ever see, the Chicago Cubs Clubhouse. Thanks to Senator Pete Ricketts and the Ricketts family, we got a behind-the-scenes privilege that lives in memory.

As we walked through the tunnel, one phrase stood out in bold letters on the wall: “Championship Mindset.” It wasn’t just decoration, as it was culture made visible. You could feel that the organization, from ownership to players, carries a legacy that’s both proud and relentless. It’s clear that Championship Mindset lives in every locker, hallway, and moment. As a kid, I grew up watching the Ryne Sandberg (RIP, Ryno) era; those were the years that made me fall in love with the game. Later, when I worked at Gramaphone Records (from ‘98 - ‘03), I found myself caught up in the South Side rhythm too, adopting the White Sox vibe for a while. Chicago baseball does that to you; it’s a city divided by colors but united by passion.

Today, after witnessing that motto and seeing the Cubs back in stride (they went to 1-2 in the series against Milwaukee today by winning 4-3), I can’t help but root for their success. Wishing the Chicago Cubs all the best this season; may that Championship Mindset bring another trophy home, but first, we need to get the series tied up tonight (Oct. 9th, 2025). The event with Senator Ricketts and the Chicago Cubs was over the Holidays and during the off-season. I had a chance to take a picture of the trophy close up for good luck, and it has been a magic charm all season, next to my desk, and as a desktop wallpaper. Every time I fire up my computer and see that trophy beside me, I’m reminded that dreams live in symbols. That photo isn’t just decoration; it’s a daily invocation of belief, grit, and possibility.
