108 - Many Names Of… ✨🙏

“Many Names Of..” (GPT5.5 Render)

Something is fascinating about names. Not the names we casually call one another every day, but the names that carry meaning. The names that tell a story before a single word is ever spoken. Across cultures and throughout history, people have believed that names reveal identity, purpose, character, or even destiny. The older I get, the more I find myself paying attention to them, because sometimes a name explains far more than we realize.

As I've continued studying different faiths and civilizations, I've noticed something remarkable. Humanity has always wrestled with the same question: How do you describe the indescribable? How do you give a name to the One who created everything? The answer, it seems, is that you don't. You give Him many. Every culture has reached for a language that could somehow express an infinite Creator, knowing that no single word could ever be enough.

The Bible is filled with those moments. In Genesis, God is revealed as Elohim, the mighty Creator who speaks the universe into existence. To Moses at the burning bush, He reveals Himself as YHWH (Yahweh): the great "I AM," the One who simply is. Scripture also calls Him Adonai, the Lord and Master, El Shaddai, God Almighty, and El Elyon, God Most High. These are not different gods. They are different revelations of the same God, each one revealing another dimension of His nature.

As people encountered God throughout history, even more names emerged. Abraham experienced miraculous provision and called Him Jehovah Jireh"The Lord Will Provide." Moses witnessed victory and called Him Jehovah Nissi: "The Lord Is My Banner." Gideon found peace amid fear and called Him Jehovah Shalom: "The Lord Is Peace." David knew Him as Jehovah Rohi: "The Lord Is My Shepherd." Jeremiah proclaimed Jehovah Tsidkenu: "The Lord Our Righteousness." Ezekiel declared Jehovah Shammah: "The Lord Is There." When healing came, people knew Him as Jehovah Rapha: "The Lord Who Heals." Every one of those names tells a story because each was born of an encounter. None of them replaces another. Together, they reveal a God who is too vast to be contained by a single title.

That idea stayed with me long before I became serious about studying theology. Growing up with Indian roots, I learned that Lord Shiva is traditionally honored through 108 names, each one representing a different quality, characteristic, or aspect of his divine nature. Whether someone approaches that tradition devotionally, culturally, or simply as a student of comparative religion, the symbolism itself is beautiful. One hundred and eight names exist not because one wasn't enough, but because one could never be enough.

Reaching DJ Mix 108 made me stop and reflect. Those 108 names of Shiva reminded me that throughout life, we are often known through many expressions of who we are. As I looked back over these 108 DJ mixes, I realized they tell the story of my own evolution as an artist. Every mix carries a different energy. Some are darker. Some are deeper. Some are soulful. Some are relentless. Some belong in a warehouse at four in the morning. Others are meant for quiet reflection. Yet every one of them comes from the same person behind the decks.

I started DJing professionally while I was an undergraduate at the University of Illinois in the early 1990s. At the time, I had no idea where music would eventually take me. It led me to open for The Advent during North American tours. It led me to perform my first live PA alongside Rino Cerrone during his first appearance in Chicago at the Metro through default_one, one of the events produced by obS->ear, my second entrepreneurial venture. Years later, it took me halfway around the world to Oslo, Norway, where I had the privilege of DJing four and a half hours at the Official After-Party for the Nobel Peace Prize Concert. Looking back now, those moments don't feel disconnected. They feel like different chapters revealing different dimensions of the same journey.

That's why I wanted to embed my own 108 — Many Names Of DJ Mix with this post. The title isn't simply about the music. It's about identity. Throughout my life, I've been known by many names: DJ, producer, engineer, entrepreneur, inventor, artist, student, consultant, husband, son, and friend. Those titles describe different roles, but they don't define who I am. They are simply different expressions of the same person trying to let the same Divine presence guide every step, every decision, every project, and every piece of work I put into the world. The music changes. The technology changes. The businesses change. The seasons of life change. But the Source remains the same.

As I reflected on names, I couldn't help but think about my own. Manish comes from Sanskrit and is commonly understood to mean "god of mind" or "master of the mind." Looking back, I can't help but smile. Engineering. Artificial Intelligence. Music production. DJing. Design. Entrepreneurship. Consciousness. Faith. Understanding how the mind works and how ideas become reality has always been woven through my life. Whether that was a coincidence or providence, I'll leave that to God. But it certainly feels like my name quietly pointed me in a direction long before I understood where I was headed.

Another name that has always fascinated me is Ermias, the birth name of Nipsey Hussle. The name is connected to Jeremiah and is commonly understood to mean "Yahweh will raise" or "God will uplift or rise." When I first learned that, it stopped me in my tracks. It reminded me that sometimes names carry hope long before we understand why.

My grandfather taught me that the meaning of one's name is important. He believed a name wasn't chosen lightly. It carried identity, purpose, and something to grow into throughout life. That lesson has stayed with me ever since. The older I get, the more I appreciate the wisdom behind it, because sometimes we spend our entire lives growing into the meaning we were given at birth.

Maybe that's why names matter so much. They remind us that identity is deeper than appearance and purpose is often revealed over time. Whether it's Elohim, YHWH, Adonai, El Shaddai, El Elyon, Jehovah Jireh, Jehovah Nissi, Jehovah Rapha, Jehovah Shalom, Jehovah Rohi, Jehovah Tsidkenu, Jehovah Shammah, or the 108 names of Lord Shiva, humanity has always reached for language to describe something greater than ourselves. Every culture has searched. Every generation has wondered. Every sincere seeker has found another name pointing toward the Divine.

The more names I learn, the smaller my own understanding becomes. And strangely enough, the greater my faith becomes. Every new name reminds me there is still more of God to discover, just as every new DJ mix reminds me there is still another side of myself waiting to be expressed.

As I sit here sharing DJ Mix 108, I can't help but think that maybe this project has never just been about music. Maybe every mix, every company, every invention, every late night studying engineering, every blog post, every conversation, and every act of creation has been another way for God to reveal a different dimension of the work He has called me to do. I don't know every step that lies ahead, but I know the One I want leading them.

God is working.

One Creator.

Many names.

One life.

Many expressions.
