021 - Meditation, Milestones, and Heart Health

Two Weeks on Insight Timer:
I’ve been on a two-week streak with Insight Timer, and it feels like a subtle but powerful shift. This isn’t about chasing a streak just for the badge; it’s about weaving meditation into the daily rhythm of life. Each session becomes like layering a track: slow build, steady groove, and then a surprising drop into stillness. As an Ayurvedic Health Practitioner (AHP), I was trained on the benefits of meditation (I even made a DJ mix with the same name), and believe me, I understand how profound it can be. Despite all this knowledge, it sometimes gets hard to get in a twenty-minute session (I even learned that the 2nd 20-minute session is 70% more effective than the 1st). This knowledge came from learning from a great Doctor and mentor.

Learning From Dr. Paul Dugliss:
Alongside my practice, I’ve been diving back into teachings from Dr. Paul Dugliss, from New World Ayurveda, where Nisha and I gained our Ayurveda education and our AHP certification. His approach blends ancient Ayurvedic wisdom with modern science. One of his points really hit home: Statins reduce heart attacks by about 24%. Meditation and exercise, according to Dr. Dugliss, can reduce them by up to 99%. That statistic reframes meditation from a simple “wellness practice” into a serious tool for heart health and longevity. It’s medicine for the mind, body, and spirit. Dr. Dugliss is also who taught us how to meditate, as part of the curriculum, and also where I gained the wisdom about the 2nd meditation being more effective, as mentioned earlier. He teaches people how to meditate (for free) via his Heart-based Meditation Website, where you can register for his Free 3-Week Training.

Why This Two-Week Milestone Matters:
Two weeks may not sound like much, but it marks the beginning of real integration. I’m noticing more space between thoughts, a little more calm in daily interactions, and less reactivity. Meditation doesn’t erase the noise, but rather, it teaches you how to tune it into music, so to speak. This inner bliss is akin to what is attained by mixing records for hours or composing music, for me.

Meditation as Preventive Medicine:
Health systems spend billions on drugs, procedures, and after-the-fact care. Yet here’s a practice that costs nothing, requires no prescription, and can transform well-being at its roots. Meditation is prevention, connection, and expansion, all rolled into one.

Looking Ahead:
This is just the starting line. My plan is to keep building on this foundation, deepening the practice, and exploring how meditation can be not just a personal tool, but a community amplifier for health and resilience. If you’ve been thinking about starting, try a few minutes on Insight Timer. You don’t need incense, silence, or a mountain retreat. You just need yourself and a willingness to breathe.

Booking an Ayurvedic Health Consult:
Desire to learn more about developing an Ayurveda practice like I have, or just generally speaking, for 30 minutes about a health or wellness concern to see if learning about Ayurveda, your constitutions like Vata, Pitta, and Kapha might affect your overall well-being, or how incorporating subtle changes might lead to a better life, book a 30-minute free consult: https://calendly.com/manish-miglani/30min.

Good luck with starting your practices, or getting back into it, if you have already learned. Reach out, as I would love to hear from you about how it has benefited you!
