065 - My Water Baptism
On April 11th, a day before my birthday, I get baptized by the big homie, Joel Osteen
There was a time when my life ran on late nights, sound systems, and crowded rooms. I was fully immersed in music and nightlife. And yet, every Sunday morning, after coming home from raves, I would still have Joel Osteen playing in the background.
Not casually either. I would literally DJ over his messages.
Looking back, that moment says everything. Even when I was living one life, something deeper in me was already reaching for another.
As I moved further into music, I found myself surrounded by parts of pop culture that didn’t bring me closer to God. It looked powerful on the outside, but internally, there was a growing disconnect. You can feel when your spirit isn’t aligned, even if everything else looks like success. A real shift happened while I was touring with a techno great, who named himself after the coming of Christ, ironically. Around that same time, I read Conversations with God by Neale Donald Walsch, which was not well-received. That period forced me to pause and reflect in a way I hadn’t before.
Eventually, I made a decision that changed everything. I stepped away from my techno agency and chose to pursue a path rooted in Christ.
It wasn’t about rejecting music. It was about realigning my life.
Since then, I’ve stayed consistent. I’ve continued listening to Joel, and I’ve had the opportunity to attend Lakewood Church here in Houston, and with Pastors John & Sue Elleson at Lakewood Chapel in Illinois. What once started as background noise after long nights became something much more intentional.
Now, stepping into water baptism under Joel’s ministry feels like a full-circle moment.
And what makes it even more meaningful is the timing. This baptism is happening the day before my birthday.
There’s something powerful about that. It feels like closing one chapter and stepping into another with intention. Not just marking another year of life, but stepping into it renewed.
This is not just a ritual. It’s a declaration.
It’s me saying that I’m leaving behind the parts of my life that weren’t aligned, and stepping fully into purpose, faith, and obedience.
Everything I’ve walked through led me here.
And this time, I’m fully present for it.
I’ve become a huge fan of Anne Wilson, not just for her voice, but for her story. Her journey into music came through loss, turning pain into purpose and faith into something lived, not just spoken. There’s an authenticity in her message that resonates deeply with me, especially in a season like this. This song carries that same spirit. It’s a reminder that even in the hardest moments, God is still writing something meaningful. I am so grateful that Joel Osteen helps bring me “down to the living water.”
This next video is for my nephews and nieces so they understand what their “Uncle Mani” is doing on April 11th, 2026.
