093 - Happy Birthday, Mom
Happy Posthumous Birthday, Mom (GPT5.5 Render)
My mother, Nirmal Miglani ๐ฉ๐ฝโโ๏ธ, was a CCU/ICU Charge Nurse who came to the United States during the nursing shortage ๐บ๐ธ. At six months old, I was left behind with my father and under the care of my aunt while my mom came to America first. Eighteen months later, Pops and I arrived โ๏ธ.
Years later, while I was throwing raves in Champaign, Illinois ๐ถ and parties in Chicago ๐, I graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign ๐ with such a reputation for all-night events that the police literally escorted me out of town after graduation to make sure the parties stopped ๐.
During one of the Advent tours, I learned that my grandfatherโs health was failing ๐๏ธ and that his days were numbered. Around the same time, my mom called me home because something terrible had happened.
My mom and another Korean nurse had been treating a patient who was in critical condition after what I believe was a motorcycle accident following a party ๐๏ธ. The patient was reportedly on four different drugs. After sedating him, the same needle was turned back on both nurses and punctured each of them, exposing them to Hepatitis, leading my mom to Cirrhosis of the liver, without drinking alcohol in her life.
Then came another nightmare.
During a liver biopsy, my motherโs colon was accidentally punctured, leaving her dependent on colostomy bags. Even through all of this, she fought โ๏ธ. She was graciously moved up on the liver transplant list and received a transplant โค๏ธ. She survived that battle too.
Later, she went in for what was supposed to be a routine colostomy reversal procedure.
While receiving a blood transfusion, the hospital staff failed to place her on a heart monitor because they assumed she was not a cardiac patient, despite her procedures taking place within the same hospital system.
My father sat beside her, reading the newspaper aloud ๐ฐ while blood slowly pooled around my motherโs ankles.
She had passed nearly thirty minutes before the nurses or doctors realized it.
Today is June 10th, my motherโs birthday ๐.
Happy Birthday, Mom ๐ค
As much as you have come to me in dreams ๐, through channeled conversations โจ, and through moments where your exact scent suddenly fills a room, I remain grateful for every sacrifice you made. Dadโs too.
From My Momโs Services
I miss you terribly.
For a brief moment, when Nishaโs mother entered my life, I felt a motherly presence again ๐คฒ๐ฝ.
Mom, I know you never fully understood the music world or โband baja,โ as you used to call it ๐บ๐ฅ. You did not want your son to become a โDeejay Weejayโ ๐ง. You wanted a โDoctor Woctorโ ๐ฉบ.
Happy Birthday, Mom; I Hope You Are As Proud As You Were On This Day
But if you were here in Houston today ๐, I think you would understand that Christ โ๏ธ, His Father, and the Holy Spirit brought us here.
You may see that through Brahma, Krishna, and Vishnu instead ๐๏ธ, and perhaps those are simply different languages attempting to describe the same divine force. Still, it was music ๐ถ, reggae ๐ฏ๐ฒ, and a man named Bob Marley who first taught me that โMusic is My Religionโ and โOne Jah.โ
I love you, Mom, ๐ค
These next few songs are for you today ๐ต๐๏ธ
