THE JOURNEY TO 124

One of the questions I've been asked more times than I can count is, "What exactly do you do?" Depending on when someone asked, the answer was different. Some people knew me as a DJ. Others knew me as an engineer, an entrepreneur, or someone researching artificial intelligence. More recently, some know me because of my work on space debris and Clean It Up LLC. For years, I thought those were completely different chapters of my life.
The more I reflect on the journey, the more I believe they were never separate at all. They were all preparing me for the same assignment. Every experience, every success, every setback, and every unexpected turn added another tool I would eventually need. At the time it didn't always make sense, but looking backward, the path becomes much clearer.
The Bible is filled with people whose assignments looked nothing alike. Noah built an ark. Moses led Israel out of Egypt. David shepherded sheep before becoming king. Esther used her position to protect her people. Nehemiah rebuilt Jerusalem's walls. John the Baptist prepared the way for Jesus. Paul traveled throughout the Roman Empire preaching the Gospel, while Luke carefully documented history. None of them were asked to become someone else. They were asked to faithfully complete the work entrusted to them.
I think one of the greatest challenges today is that we spend so much time comparing assignments. We compare careers, salaries, lifestyles, followers, and accomplishments. Social media has made it easier than ever to measure our lives against someone else's highlight reel. Yet Scripture reminds us that God has always worked through people with very different callings. Noah wasn't David. Peter wasn't Paul. Luke wasn't Moses. Their value wasn't found in being alike. It was found in being faithful.
When I look back over my own life, I no longer see random decisions. DJing taught me discipline and consistency. Going back to school for engineering taught me perseverance and how to solve difficult problems. Artificial intelligence challenged me to think about the future in new ways. Researching space debris reminded me that innovation comes with responsibility. Writing these blog posts has allowed me to slow down, reflect, and share what I've learned with others. None of those experiences canceled each other out. Together, they shaped the assignment I've been given.
That's one of the reasons I chose to embed Nipsey Hussle's "Grinding All My Life." I don't hear it as a song about fame or success. I hear it as a song about commitment. Long before anyone sees the outcome, there are years of showing up, learning, sacrificing, and continuing when nobody is watching. Whether you're building a business, earning a degree, raising a family, serving your community, or pursuing a dream, meaningful work is rarely built overnight. It is built one faithful day at a time.
Your assignment may look completely different from mine, and that's exactly the point. Maybe your assignment is raising children with wisdom and love. Maybe it's teaching students who will one day change the world. Maybe it's caring for aging parents, serving your community, or quietly helping people without expecting recognition. Not every assignment becomes famous, but every faithful assignment has value.
As this Journey to 124 continues, I've stopped asking whether I've chosen the right title or career path. Instead, I try to ask a better question: "Am I being faithful to the assignment I've been entrusted with today?" That question has changed the way I define success.
One day, every one of us will leave this world with unfinished work. That's simply part of being human. My prayer isn't that I accomplish everything. My prayer is that when my assignment is complete, I can honestly say I stayed faithful, I kept building, I kept learning, and I gave it everything I had.
