THE JOURNEY TO 124

โ€œOpportunity Knocks For Patriotsโ€ (GPT5.5 Render)

As Independence Day approaches, America celebrates 250 years. That milestone made me stop and think about my own journey and how much of my life has been shaped by this country. I wasn't born here. I was born in India, but I arrived in the United States when I was two years old. I don't remember the flight or the adjustment. America is simply where my memories begin.

For all of its imperfections, this country has given me something I will never take for granted: opportunity. I don't mean that every opportunity was handed to me, because it wasn't. Many had to be earned through years of work, sacrifice, and persistence. But the opportunity to pursue those dreams was always there, and that has made all the difference.

I've always been curious. Looking back, I don't think I was collecting degrees or certificates as much as I was collecting perspectives. That curiosity led me to the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, then to DePaul University, and later to University of Illinois Chicago. Along the way, I also had the privilege of studying through Northwestern University, Parsons New School, New York University Tisch School of the Arts, and New World Ayurveda. Every one of those experiences expanded the way I see the world. Currently, I am looking for a home for my Doctorate.

Outside the classroom, America gave me room to grow in ways no syllabus ever could. Chicago introduced me to dance music and a culture that would become part of my identity. Engineering taught me how to solve problems. Design taught me that details matter. Artificial intelligence challenged me to think differently. Entrepreneurship taught me resilience, and my walk with God taught me that wisdom is far more valuable than knowledge alone. None of those paths competed with each other. Together, they became the foundation of who I am.

There have been times when I didn't feel like I fit neatly into one category. I was often too technical for the creative crowd and too creative for the technical crowd. At times I wondered whether I needed to choose one path and abandon the others. Today, I see that differently. Some people are called to master a single discipline. Others are called to connect disciplines that rarely meet. Looking back, I believe that has been part of my own assignment.

As I reflect on more than 100 DJ mixes, more than 100 original music releases, years of studying, companies I've helped build, graduate research in artificial intelligence, and my work on solving the problem of space debris, I don't simply see accomplishments. I see opportunities. Opportunities that existed because countless people before me built universities, businesses, communities, and institutions that made those pursuits possible. That perspective fills me with gratitude.

America has never been perfect, and no nation ever will be. I believe it's possible to recognize imperfections while still appreciating the opportunities that exist. Gratitude and improvement don't compete with each other. In fact, I think they belong together. We honor what we've been given by continuing to build something better for those who come after us.

As America celebrates 250 years, I find myself grateful. Grateful for the education I've received. Grateful for the people who believed in me. Grateful for the freedom to create music, pursue engineering, build businesses, ask difficult questions, and continue learning. Most of all, I'm grateful that a little boy who arrived from India at the age of two was given the opportunity to spend nearly his entire life building something here. I had to embed this song and the image of the opportunity I had to meet Lee Greenwood, thanks to DJing for Exclaim and ABC Supply, another set of two great American stories, one from IL and one from WI.

Happy Birthday, America.

And thank you...

...for the opportunity.

I could not help myself and had to post another song! No apologies as I am unapologetically โ€œAmerica First!โ€. #GodWins

A Special Shout To The Great Patriots at Heritage Jewelry & Loan in Texas, For Being Part Of Our Rise. Never Forget The 2nd Amendment, Especially: โ€œThe Right Of The People To Keep and Bear Arms, Shall Not Be Infringed.โ€ #2A #USConstitution

America also taught me that freedom isn't just about opportunity. It's also about responsibility. Our Constitution protects rights that generations before us believed were worth preserving, and with every right comes the responsibility to exercise it wisely and respectfully. Living in Texas has given me an even greater appreciation for the history behind the Second Amendment and the importance of understanding the freedoms we often take for granted.

Only 10 left. ๐Ÿ
